The Strange Rover
AKA James Megaron-yl'Andwalu-yl'Nakamura, the hero of our tale, and a man of many talents, chief among them getting into trouble. Though he considers himself a pro wrestler at heart, The Omega Man is better known across the galaxy for the mercenary work he undertakes with the crew of his starship, the Independent Support Vessel Khybaris.
Tasha
Formerly the princess of an alien empire, Ymsyllynt'ash'Andwalu-yl'Megaron-su'Nakamura was exiled after her rebellion against the tyrannical rule of her power-mad twin sister was crushed. Now she occasionally takes work as a mercenary alongside her husband and wife. Because Aja Darrik's gravity is roughly 20% stronger than Earth's, Tasha is nearly twice as strong and fast as a baseline human.
Evelyn
Abducted from Earth as a small child, Evelyn Nakamura-yl'Megaron-su'Andwalu spent her formative years as a slave in a mining operation. She was eventually sold to an underworld boss, who had her trained in whatever forms of violence her physiology would allow, using her as his personal assassin. She soon went her own way and became a freelance assassin known as "Darkmaw", until that life brought her into contact with The Omega Man. She now works as a mercenary alongside her husband and wife.
Erin
Formerly the Enhanced Reaction and Intuitive Navigation system of Omega's futuristic power armour, Erin is now a fully sentient digital entity who typically inhabits and controls the main computer functions of the Khybaris, though she prefers to interface directly with Jay through the suit of powered armor, via their shared neural network.
Nikola Tesla
THE Nikola Tesla, not a namesake, clone, or descendant. During the brief period when Jay Omega had access to a time machine, he used it to kidnap Tesla from 1886. Nikola adjusted rather well to modern times, immediately taking to designing experimental technology for The Omega Man. He now resides aboard the Khybaris, happily tinkering with alien gizmos, some of which he occasionally field tests himself alongside Jay.
Alex Richards
The Doctor of Mass Confusion is one of Jay Omega's oldest associates, having worked in many of the same companies since Omega's North American debut in early 2000. Formerly a sadist intent on spreading the pain he suffered during his traumatic childhood, Richards underwent a drastic personality shift after suffering a massive concussion during a hardcore match. Deciding to medicate himself with a mixture of pain pills and alcohol, Alex quickly discovered he was a much happier person while inebriated, if a little off-kilter. Determined not to return to his sadistic ways, Alex maintains a near-constant state of intoxication, and embraces all the strangeness of the universe one can only experience when totally sauced.
Kazuto Mazikawa
Formerly a salaryman at a Japanese accounting firm, Kazuto's life changed the day two strange beings appeared in downtown Tokyo and fought to the death. During the battle, Kaz risked his own life to save some bystanders swept up in the carnage, and proved himself a worthy inheritor of the Conduit, an ancient cosmic crystal that imbues its carrier with a host of powers and abilities, all of which respond to "need".
Jack Hampshire
A powerful mage from an Earth where magic is just as prevalent as technology, Jack of Shadows came to this universe to aid Omega against a magical invasion of his privacy, and decided to stick around for a while. His vast arcane abilities are of great help on mercenary missions, when Omega can convince him to go along. Often likes to complain, loudly, about anything.
Treepis-Tohn the Grasping
The pilot of the Khybaris, Treepis-Tohn is an enigmatic alien from a race called the Ylolt. While Erin is capable of controlling the ship's navigational systems, Treepis-Tohn's race possess an innate understanding of the space-time continuum that allows them to perceive "eddies in the flow". Treepis-Tohn has been unable to explain exactly what that means, but it somehow allows him to plot faster, more fuel-efficient routes than the digital sophont.
Grishnag
A squat, dense alien of unknown race and indeterminate origin, Grishnag was taken from his homeworld to help a wounded refugee free his family from slavers. Earning great honor in this adventure, Grishnag was returned home and gifted a small ship, which made him the most powerful warlord among his people. Bored with the ease of his life, Grishnag had ventured out into the stars again looking for excitement, only to have his ship stolen from the first station he docked at. Since then, he has tried to make his way through the galaxy as a mercenary, a task made difficult by the fact that few beings understand his language. He now resides aboard the Khybaris, and serves as the ship's weapons officer and chef.
Dr. Zayus
Formally Grand Surgeon Myrmyllrz'ayu'Sivaku, Dr. Zayus - as Omega and Richards delight in calling him - initially joined the crew of the Khybaris to provide prenatal care for Tasha, but fell into the role of medical officer for the entire crew. Spends most of his time correcting the terrible medical advice Alex gives out.
Timastenzi
A nightmarish amalgamation of a dark and twisted time god, and a shadow wraith from a Hell dimension, Timastenzi commands an endless army of Luchadrones, is immensely powerful in his own right, and harbors a personal grudge toward Omega and all his associates.
The Director
A self-insert, the Director is basically me from Jay's perspective; a creator god from a level of existence he can't comprehend, with the power to warp Omega's reality in any way I see fit.
Independent Support Vessel Khybaris
An old, but still powerful starship, the Khybaris boasts ample living space, a wide array of weaponry, a large cargo bay in the fore, a hangar bay in the aft, and a bevy of aftermarket upgrades installed by Nikola Tesla, including a hologym capable of creating lifelike hardlight projections, and a refitted Quantum Micro Tunnel Stabilizer. Though not the fastest ship in the galaxy, it has a top speed of 1MC(one million times the speed of light) when the gravimetric distortion field is at full power.
The Strange Rover
Custom built by Nikola Tesla for Alex Richards, Tesla did his level best to incorporate as many of Alex's drunken ramblings as he could into the design of this monstrosity. Much like Alex, the vehicle runs on ZimQuila. Equipped with an autopilot feature and an advanced self-navigation system, Richards never has to worry about driving when he's drunk, which is always. Packed to the gills with experimental technology Tesla conceived of in a fever dream, the cab of the truck exists in realspace, but the rear compartment makes heavy use of Tesla's proprietary quantum compression tech, and impossibly contains a three-storey apartment, with a still in the basement.
